Ancient Epidaurus

A theater, a therapy for the soul.

The most beautiful "living" ancient theater in the world, a unique archaeological site, and a natural landscape that soothes the soul.

You are in the Peloponnese, at the cavea of the ancient theater of Epidaurus. From the upper tier of the ancient theater, you gaze at the intoxicating relief of the horizon. Serenity. You understand why the ancients chose this place for the construction of the most famous Asclepius sanctuary. Let your gaze lower. The seats, the benches, the orchestra, and the stage building. Yes, it is the most beautiful open-air ancient theater in the world - the place where entertainment was born (soul training), as the theater was built with the purpose of entertaining and healing the patients.

An ancient theater that remains "alive". Since 1955, stunning ancient drama performances have found their natural place here. Whether you combine it with watching a performance or not, a visit to this unique archaeological site is still, today, a therapy for the soul and body. A UNESCO World Heritage Monument worth visiting.

One of the most important monuments of ancient Greece and a globally renowned attraction in the modern world: the famous theater at the Asclepius Sanctuary of Epidaurus. It combines perfect acoustics, elegance, and symmetrical proportions. It was constructed around 340 - 330 BC to allow the patients of the Asclepius sanctuary to watch theatrical performances and was in use until at least the 3rd century AD. Imagine what it must have been like when the musical, singing, and dramatic contests of the Asclepius were held here every four years in the spring, along with other drama performances included in the worship of Asclepius...
